Thinking…

What does teacher identity mean to you? What does it look like at this stage in your career?

At this point— I believe that my teacher identity is how I carry myself as a teacher in my profession. My identity as a teacher is based on how my co workers will remember me, how they may perceive me while I preform my job and, it is also how I will impact my students. As of currently, I aspire to be the teacher who asks questions and the educator who soaks up knowledge like a sponge. I want to continuously learn as much as I can throughout my time at university in order to become a knowledgeable and reliable teacher. I also want to be the teacher who is vastly knowledgeable in my teaching areas. Since I want to reach these goals; I will be the teacher candidate who is studying, learning and, reading beyond what is required solely for the sake of retaining knowledge that I can pass onto my future colleagues and students.

How did the type of school I attended shape my high school experience?

I attended Lloydminster Comprehensive high school and during my four years I had many opportunities presented to me. Such as, many extra curricular activities that were available and the sports programs that always had the opportunities to attend and host tournaments with transportation. Often this included which led to many great memories, friendships and experiences. The entire west wing of the school is applied for arts such as welding, mechanics, construction, electrical, Home economics and cosmetology courses that are unique to my high school.  As well, I had the privilege to take band class, French class, as well as AP classes, a leadership course and almost any elective I could imagine taking. If it wasn’t for this high school and my own experiences I wouldn’t have recognized the academic benefits and the necessity for some of these programs to exist.
